Service Description: BTFC Support Groups are available to people with brain tumors, their families and people significant to their lives. The groups are open to people 18 years of age or older. Support groups provide a relaxing environment where participants are encouraged to share in a "What has worked for me" format, rather than an "I think you should" way. Each person has a right to decide whether to take part in a discussion and everyone speaks for themselves.

Support groups help to:
- reduce anxiety often associated with the diagnosis of a brain tumor, address feelings of loss of control, fear of the unknown, changes in family roles, and financial strain
- provide reassurance from others who have already traveled the road
- offer practical information and resources needed to make informed decisions concerning treatments and lifestyle changes
- enhance and strengthen coping skills that may break down during a crisis
- provide a unique social network that may reduce feelings of isolation and reinforce a positive, hopeful attitude
